CPTV Sports, available on-air and online at www.cptvsports.org, is Connecticut’s only network dedicated to 24/7 coverage of local sports. Launched in November of 2011, the network has featured an average of over 350 hours of sports competition per year, including events such as LIVE CIAC Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Ice Hockey championship telecasts. CPTV Sports original programming includes three shows that give viewers an all-access look into the world of Connecticut athletics: Beyond the Beat (a panel discussion of the latest local and national happenings), GameTime (WFSB sports anchors John Holt and Joe Zone interview the coaches, players, and personalities surrounding the local game), and In Focus (a show that includes five feature-profiles designed to help viewers understand local sports from a student-athlete’s perspective). The network is also responsible for creating viewer-immersive, showcase events such as the CPTV Sports Tip-Off Classic, a basketball invitational classic featuring four rare girls and boys basketball match-ups that debuted in December of 2015. The CPTV Sports Tip-Off Classic is a prime example of Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network’s bold strategy to give every event “nine-lives”. Viewers were able to watch the game LIVE on-air and online, while viewing the digital program at cptvsports.org/tipoffclassic and participating socially (@CPTVSports on Twitter and Instagram, facebook.com/cptvsports, CPTV Sports on SnapChat).
Fans can watch all CPTV Sports programming online, on-demand at cptv.org/passport, as an additional member benefit to joining CPTV for at least $5 a month!
